Conservation Status

The IUCN conservation status of Black-crowned Antpitta is evaluated as Least Concern (Birdlife International 2010). Although it has a restricetd range, this antpitta's population is believed to be stable (Birdlife International 2010).

Effects of human activity on populations

Little information available. As this species requires primary forest, it is likely very susceptible to deforestation. Fortunately, much of its Costa Rican range is found within protected areas and its also occurs in several protected areas in Panama.
