Conservation Status

The IUCN characterizes Tangara cyanotis as a species of Least Concern compared to other species, because of their large range size and lack of evidence of population decline (BirdLife International 2011). However, although the overall range size is comparatively large, the species inhabits only a narrow elevation band.

Effects of human activity on populations

Parker et al. (1996) rank its senstivity to disturbance as "high" relative to other Neotropical bird species.
