Beautiful Hummingbird has a large geographic range and so the IUCN Red List conservation status of this species is Least Concern (BirdLife International 2013). This species is included in Appendix II of CITES, however, as is the case with all hummingbirds, regardless of rarity (except for Hook-billed Hermit Glaucis dohrnii, which is Endangered and is on Appendix I of CITES). The population of Beautiful Hummingbird is believed to be stable (BirdLife International 2013). Beautiful Hummingbird is not under special protection by Mexico law.
