Tschudi's Nightjar Systellura decussata

Diet and Foraging

Band-winged Nightjar is insectivorous, but the diet is not known in much detail. Items reported from the stomachs of five specimens of nominate longirostris include beetles Coleoptera (Geotrupidae, Scarabaeidae) and Lepidoptera (presumably moths) (Schubart et al. 1965). Band-winged Nightjar also captures flying termites (Sick 1993).
