Breeding

Two nests have been recorded, one in Costa Rica and another in Panama. During the month of July, the nest in Panama had an adult with a single nestling, which the adult twice brought mashed pulpy red fruit. In Costa Rica, a female was observed in April bringing matted rootlets to a cavity while the male sang nearby. Both nests were 10-12 m above ground within moss (Isler and Isler 1987, Stiles and Skutch 1989).
