Priorities for Future Research

Conservation efforts for this Endangered species can be more targeted by an improved understanding of the current distribution and status in Chiapas, the social system (parents and helper) and its impact on nest success, causes of nest failure, number of broods per year, longevity, molt, age at first breeding, life span and survivorship, diseases and body parasites, dispersal and population regulation. To establish the phylogenetic relationship of Azure-rumped Tanager to its congeners requires the sampling of tissue.
