Sections

The Hooded Grebe Podiceps gallardoi is a handsome bird of extreme southeastern South America where it inhabits remote and largely inaccessible barren lands of Patagonia. The population has declined severely in recent years for reasons that remain uncertain, which caused BirdLife International to uplist it to Endangered.  The Hooded Grebe was described to science less than 40 years ago.
