Rusty-necked Piculet Picumnus fuscus

Sections
  • © Adrian Eisen Rupp

Extremely little is known about the basic ecology of this “near-threatened” piculet. It has a rather restricted range where it inhabits flooded lowland forests (várzea). Rusty-necked Piculets prefer areas filled with vines and bamboo. Both males and females are a buffy cinnamon color overall and have black caps. Males are also decorated with reddish orange streaking on the crown.
