Distribution in the Americas

Is an endemic species of Mexico. Is distributed in the Pacific slope and in adjacent interior, from southern Sonora to northern Michoacan and western state of Mexico (possibly to the north of Guerrero). On Atlantic slope, from southern Tamaulipas to Hidalgo.

It is a resident species, common to uncommon throughout range (240,000 km2).

It inhabits between 800 and 2500 m, from arid to semihumid oak woodland and scrub, open areas with hedges, stone walls, and scattered trees.
